While the holidays are a great time to connect with family and friends, the chaos and busyness can leave you feeling disconnected from your partner. The new year is a great time to prioritize both yourself and your relationship and reconnect with your partner. Keep reading for advice from our relationship experts to help you reconnect with intention in 2025!
Our Advice
Just 5 minutes can make all the difference in connecting with you partner at the end of the day. One of our favorite strategies to suggest is taking a few minutes away from the kids, work, or any other distractions to share answers to the following questions:
- One thing that I was excited to share with you from my day is…
- One thing that I struggle with today is…
- One way that I would like to connect with you before the day is over is…
These conversation starters can be a great place to start as you move from a space of holiday chaos to rejuvenation and restoration in 2025.
A second suggestion from our relationship coaches is to prioritize regular date nights. With relatives gone, kids back in school, and holiday planning and shopping done, intentional connection with your partner can seem less daunting. We do understand, however, that money can feel tight following the holidays. Check out our budget friendly suggestions to spark connection and romance this year.
-
Stay In
- Choose a new recipe to try at home, play a card or board game, or have a DIY spa night. If you have kiddos, you can propose this idea to another couple and take turns watching the kids at your home while the other couple enjoys a relaxing night in their own space.
-
Enjoy Nature
- Go for a long walk or hike, plan a picnic, or visit a nature preserve.
-
Check Out a Museum, Zoo, or Aquarium
- Many local museums, zoos, or aquariums have special discounted days where you can “pay what you want” or enter for free!
-
See a Movie
- Check out your local theatre for nightly ticket deals. Many theatres offer discounted matinee or weeknight showings.
