If you’ve made it to this page, you’re likely longing to feel seen, heard, and connected within your relationship. At the Jessica Yaffa Coaching Institute, we’re here to support you with resources, advice, tips, and strategies in the form of online relationship education to unlock your happiest and healthiest relationships.
Online Relationship Education, Lesson #1: Communication Strategies
Healthy relationships require consistent, effective, and positive communication to thrive. Incorporating some new communication tools can help even the healthiest of relationships grow and connect on a deeper level!
- Set aside time to speak face-to-face
It’s important to show your loved ones that they are worthy of a conversation face-to-face. Not only does it show that they’re indispensable to you, but also allows for your tone of voice and body language to be communicated. - Be aware of your body language
Translating your emotions into words can be challenging. Our body language sometimes tells a different story from what we’re saying which can lead to confusion. Stay mindful of your body language when communicating. - Determine your own value and what you want from a relationship
Start with understanding your needs and values before attempting to communicate them to your partner. Build a solid foundation through understanding and communicating what you hope to get out of the relationship. - Stay open and honest
Both parties in a relationship need to feel comfortable sharing their emotions without being judged or reprimanded. Practice open and honest communication consistently. - Assess your own communication style
Take an audit of how you best process information and emotions to understand which types of communication speak to you. Communication is a two-way street that can only traversed if both parties understand each other’s needs.
We are excited to offer a virtual relationship education workshop on couples communication! You can find more information at our workshops page here https://www.jessicayaffa.org/relationship-workshops/ .
Online Relationship Education, Lesson #2: Boundary Setting
We need healthy relationships to thrive, and setting boundaries can be a huge factor in ensuring that your relationship is mutually respectful, healthy, and happy. You can start understanding and setting boundaries with the following tips:
- Identify your relationship goals
Ask yourself what you do and do not want from the relationship before you begin setting boundaries. - Be aware of your feelings
Recognize and identify your feelings to understand where your boundaries lie. If a relationship brings more feelings of negativity than positivity, we recommend reassessing and adjusting your boundaries. - Identify what you’re willing to accept
Your boundaries will vary based on the type of relationship. Categorizing your boundaries into negotiable and non-negotiable can be helpful for gaining clarity. - Don’t assume your boundaries are known
Because boundaries can be different in every relationship, we cannot assume that our relationship counterpart knows our boundaries unless we explicitly communicate them. - Communicate your boundaries
When communicating your boundaries, use “I” statements to reduce hostility and defensiveness. - Enforce your boundaries
When you consider your boundaries, think about how you will respond if a boundary is crossed. - Be consistent
Consistency in enforcing your boundaries communicates that they are not up to interpretation.

Online Relationship Education, Lesson #3, Reconnecting with Intention
We all have many facets to our busy lives. Sometimes it can feel challenging to dedicate time to connecting with a partner, family member, or friend. When it comes to an intimate relationship specifically, taking the time to reconnect in the craziness of life can be so beneficial to maintaining a happy healthy relationship. Just 5 minutes can make all the difference in connecting with your partner at the end of a busy day. Our favorite three questions to aid in this are:
- One thing that I was excited to share with you from my day is…
- One thing that I struggled with today is…
- One way that I’d like to connect with you before the day is over is…
If you need further support reconnecting in your intimate relationship, our relationship coaches are experts in providing customized virtual relationship education and guidance to couples.
Online Relationship Education, Lesson #4, Re-establishing Trust
Reestablishing trust following a betrayal or break in trust in an intimate relationship can be a challenge. Our relationship experts at the Jessica Yaffa Coaching Institute work to provide online relationship education in this area to many clients. 3 key steps to rebuilding trust and finding success in your intimate relationship, if you so choose, are the following:
- Genuine apology
A genuine apology from the offending party is necessary to begin the process of rebuilding trust. This apology provides a foundation from which a resolution grows. - Continued action
Action that aligns with spoken promises or commitments are important to signify that both parties are taking the rebuilding of trust seriously. - Open communication
Allowing the person who broke trust to share their perspective and communicate their feelings can feel difficult but is so beneficial to moving forward. Both parties need to feel heard when reestablishing trust after betrayal.
